I
first met llamas at the Puyallup Fair in 1986. I was amazed that just anyone
could own such beautiful creatures and even though I lived in suburbia in
Seattle I began to hatch a scheme to own maybe just two. Sound familiar? In 1992
owning llamas became a reality. Key Llamas was born with the purchase of two
females. I now live in Toledo with 20 llamas and have recently changed the farm
name to Bel Air Llamas to include my husband, Brad’s passion, Chevy Bel Airs and
a recent restoration of a 1934 Ford 5 window coupe. For nine years I published
Llama Marketplace. I really enjoy meeting the diversity of people who own llamas
and believe that is one of the best things about owning llamas, the camaraderie
of other llama owners. In my “other” life I am the dairy department manager at
the Chehalis Walmart. I worked as a meat wrapper at King’s Command Meats in
Seattle for 22 years prior to the morph into a llama owner. Ah yes, these were
the best of times and the worst of times.
